Connect Sports is a sports training program that aims to bring families together by providing parent resources, teaching youth life and leadership skills thru Sports, Fitness, Education, Mentoring and Mental Health programs. Participants receive guidance from trained and experienced coaches who utilize a proven structured curriculum. During the season, youth are engaged in healthy competition, and receive positive reinforcement from all involved in the program.

Connect Sports is a sports training program that aims to bring families together by mentoring youth, developing character and self-esteem, exercise, sportsmanship in the season or 1-week summer camps. Participants will receive guidance from trained and experienced coaches who utilize a proven structured curriculum. During the season, youth are engaged in healthy competition, and receive positive reinforcement from all involved in the program. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, so we have committed our ministry to working within our local community to help produce young men and women of integrity and character.

The Connect Sports ATL Recreation League Volunteer roles are listed below.

  • BASKETBALL COACHES: Assess participant skills for team placement. Teach basketball skills, exercise, facilitate scrimmage games, referee, and encourage students through sportsmanship.
  • BASKETBALL COMMISSIONER: Recruit basketball coaches. Manage coach volunteers. Teach life skills lesson curriculum to students.
  • CHEER COACHES: Teach cheer fundamentals, exercise, create chants, and encourage life-skills through sports
  • CHEER COMMISSIONER: Recruit cheer coaches. Manage cheer coach volunteers. Teach life-skills lesson curriculum to students.
  • CONCESSIONS TEAM: Manage concession stand and inventory. Maintain food safety compliance and regulations while preparing and distributing food to guests on GAME DAYS.
  • ConnectsportsATL LEAGUE DIRECTOR: The League Director is a flexible servant-leader in various roles. The League Director is responsible for overseeing, promoting, advertising, and managing the sports ministries of the Connect SportsTM League. This includes all sports currently offered at the time during the regular Sports Season and the summer sports camp (i.e. Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and Cheerleading). In addition, the League Director will look to maximize the overall effectiveness of all sports programs through providing leadership, training, and overall accountability to assigned volunteer leaders.
  • FIRST AID TEAM: Ensure kids remain hydrated and provide aid for issues that may come up for kids in need. Prefer individuals with medical certifications.
  • HALF-TIME COMMISSIONER: Lead and coordinate Half-Time Show
  • LOGISTICS SETUP TEAM: Ensure there are ample tables, chairs and extra equipment like garbage cans to complete the preferred setup. Ensure multiple setups on the property are completed on time and direct quick-change setups.
  • LOGISTICS BREAKDOWN TEAM – Ensure tables, chairs and extra equipment are cleaned and returned to proper designations. Assist as needed with clean-up of property.
  • REGISTRATION TEAM: Assist with registration. Escort them to their assigned groups.
  • SCORE KEEPER – Keeps track of the score of the game and keeps in contact with the on-court referees to record fouls, assists, and other statistics.
  • SECURITY TEAM – Ensure crowd control for safety. Maintain a watchful eye while making rounds, ensuring the assigned area is properly patrolled and monitored. Stay in walkie-talkie communication with other security personnel as well as logistics, usher, and tech team members at all times prepared to respond as needed.
  • WEDNESDAY SMALL GROUP LIFE SKILLS MENTORS - Mentor students and provide mini- life lessons at practice to develop character.

Our Story, The Vision & Beyond

Connect Sports was founded in 2012 by Tez and Gala Andrews to enhance the community through recreational sports. Connect Sports first served families in the community at Oakview Elementary School, Decatur, GA in 2011.


In 2012, Connect Sports served the community at Exchange Parks Recreation Center in Decatur, GA. Since 2013, Connect Sports has partnered with elementary and middle schools such as Flat Shoals Elementary, Clifton Springs Elementary, Oakview Elementary, Toney Elementary, Columbia Middle School, and Henderson Elementary School. In July 2021, Connect Sports ATL hosted a 1-week camp at the former location of Bautista Inglesia 3532 Covington Hwy, Decatur, GA which served students from over 55 Atlanta metro area schools.


This summer, May 22 - June 29, we will serve the community from Dekalb School of the Arts, 1192 Clarendon Ave, Avondale Estates, GA 30002.


Our participants include students from schools all over Atlanta including Henry County, Clayton County, Dekalb County, and Fulton County.

This is an agreement between the participant, parents & ConnectSportsatl, INC Basketball & Cheerleading League/Connect Church which must be signed by legal guardians and parents.


PLEASE READ CAREFULLY TO INDICATE YOUR AGREEMENT.

NOTE: THIS FORM INCLUDES A RELEASE OF LIABILITY. Please review the sections below and note in the space provided on the Connectsportsatl, INC application and registration form to indicate your agreement with all statements made in such sections.


AUTHORIZATION AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I, the parent or guardian of the above-named child, authorize the participation of my child in the Connect SportsATL, Inc. athletic program. My child will participate in the Connect Sports ATL, INC program as denoted on this page. I understand that this Program is a nonprofit sports program for youth and that my child’s participation is voluntary and not essential to completion of requirements of any program, school or government agency. I understand that the Program is conducted by volunteers and staff, including parents of other participating children. I also understand that Connect Sports ATL, Inc is solely responsible for all aspects of the Program including selection and supervision of all persons conducting the Program. I further understand and agree that my child’s participation in athletic and other activities of the Program necessarily involves the risk of injury and even death from various causes, including but not limited to accidents, falls, strenuous and prolonged physical activity, dehydration, illness, collision or dispute with other participants, weather related injuries, playing area and equipment defects, and negligence of coaches and referees.


On behalf of my child, me, and my family, I assume these risks.


In consideration of the privilege of my child’s participation in the Program, and on behalf of my child and me as parent/guardian, I hereby release, discharge, hold harmless and indemnify, and covenant not to sue, the sponsor Connect Church and Connect Sports ATL, Inc, and all of the Church’s and Connect Sports’ directors, officers, elders, trustees, deacons, employees, volunteers, insurers, agents and representatives, and all other persons associated with the Program (including without limitation any other participating churches, sponsors, parents, vendors, coaches and other game and event workers, officials, drivers, and organizations) as to any and all claims of my child, me and other family members for personal injuries suffered by my child, property damage, medical expenses, and economic loss arising directly or indirectly out of my child’s participation in the Program, and any first aid, medical care or treatment provided to my child in the event my child is injured or becomes ill while participating in Program activities, and excepting claims that may not be released under applicable law.


This Release of Liability shall be as broadly construed as allowed by law to include all claims and rights that the child, that I as parent/guardian, and that other family members may have. I am a legally responsible parent or guardian of my child. If any provision of this Release of Liability is deemed invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

This Release of Liability shall be binding on me, my family, heirs, next of kin, legal representatives, beneficiaries, successors and assigns I hereby authorize the Church and Connect Sports to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and to license others to use, reproduce, distribute, and display, my child’s image, and photograph, as well as any video, digital, or audio recording or reproduction, in connection with external and internal communications of the Church and ConnectSportsATL, INC for the sole purpose of advancing Connect Sports Atl, INC programs. By providing your email address on the registration form, you agree to be included in occasional surveys from ConnectSportsatl, INC at which time you will have the opportunity to unsubscribe.


MEDICAL CONDITIONS

I understand that participation in the Program may involve strenuous and prolonged physical activity. I agree that my child is healthy and able to participate in the Program activities. I understand that Connect Sports Atl, INC or its representatives may request health information concerning my child and/or ask my child to undergo a medical exam. If Connect Sports Atl, INC determines that my child does have a physical or mental condition that may affect his/her ability to safely and appropriately participate in Program activities, Connect Sports Atl, INC may determine that my child cannot be permitted to participate. I understand and agree that, while Connect Sports Atl, INC desires that all children will be able to participate, such decisions may have to be made out of concern for the best interests of my child and other participants.


CONSENT TO MEDICAL TREATMENT

In the event my child is injured or becomes ill in Program activities, and if I, the parent or guardian of the above -named child, am not present to make medical decisions, I hereby authorize Connect Sports Atl, INC, its staff, volunteers including volunteer parent participants, coaches, assistant coaches, and referees, supervisors and drivers, to arrange for and consent on my behalf to emergency medical and dental care and treatment, including tests and radiological exams, and surgery, and hospital care and treatment, and to consent to medications for pain and other conditions as prescribed by medical personnel attending my child. I am responsible for payment of any medical charges or expenses not covered by my insurance or the insurance applicable to my child (if any). My signature below indicates that all information provided in this form is true and accurate, and that I fully agree to all statements made on the form, including but not limited to the Authorization and Release of Liability, Medical Conditions, and Consent to Medical Treatment. Each responsible parent/guardian should sign registration form.
